During production and operation process of induction furnace, every operator shall observe the key dangerous factors and do good protection for himself and others.

Explosion risk

Medium frequency furnace due to refractory masonry or baking is not qualified, serious corrosion of the furnace lining, cooling water pipe defects or water breakage may lead to furnace lining refractory material burned through, resulting in molten steel leakage, once the medium frequency furnace working pit, the furnace under the water or meet the cooling water of the induction coil, which will cause the water to gasify dramatically, decompose into a large amount of hydrogen and oxygen, triggering explosive accidents. At the same time, if the melting process of raw materials containing water or entrapment of closed containers will also cause steel splash, explosion accident.

Fire risk

There are two main types of fire accidents during the operation of the medium frequency furnace. One is the medium frequency furnace production operations in the process of high temperature molten metal splash, leakage, explosion, so that the high temperature molten metal meets rubber, plastic, wood and other combustibles caused by fire accidents; the other is the medium frequency furnace operation, the electrical system due to the aging of the line, short-circuit and other factors that may lead to electrical fire accidents.

Scorch risk

Personnel burn injury is one of the common hazards during the operation of the medium frequency furnace. Most of the burning accidents are mainly concentrated in the pre-furnace operation and casting process, in the intermediate frequency furnace charging, temperature measurement, sampling, pre-furnace observation, out of the steel, slag, steel lifting process, if the site personnel are not properly operated, it is easy to cause scalding accidents. There are also accidents such as explosion, steel splash or wear furnace due to IF furnace, which lead to a large amount of steel leakage and cause workers’ scalding accidents.

Risk of electric shock

General intermediate frequency furnace site, there will be more electrically charged equipment, such as transformers, control cabinets, capacitors, bus bar, water-cooled cables, furnace rings, vacuum pumps, etc., are driven by the use of electric power or run with high voltage, the above places if the power lines, switches, equipment, not installed leakage protector, not grounded, broken insulators, exposed electrically charged body may cause electrocution of the personnel.

Risk of lifting injuries

The plant frequently uses a traveling crane to charge the medium frequency furnace, iron (steel) water package lifting operations. In the lifting process, if the rope and spreader to reach the end-of-life standard is not scrapped, the traveling crane expired without inspection, improper command and coordination, overloading and other unauthorized operation may cause lifting injury, resulting in equipment damage, injury or death.

Rrisk of falling from a height

Due to the medium frequency furnace with charging, discharging, and temperature measurement, slagging and other operations are in the furnace mouth, so the general furnace platform is set up from the ground at a certain height.
