On November 23-24, 2022, the 13th Annual China Iron and Steel Conference was successfully held online, which was hosted by China Institute of Metals (CIM) and assisted by CMI Group Co. The theme was “Building a green, low-carbon, intelligent and sustainable steel industry”, and leaders, academicians, experts, scholars and scientists from industry organizations, enterprises, universities and research institutes conducted high-level exchanges and discussions on metallurgical and material theories, processes, products, applications, intelligence, greening and low-carbon development.
Zhang Xiaogang, President of the Chinese Society for Metals, firstly expressed his welcome and gratitude to the leaders, academicians, experts, scholars and scientific workers attending the conference. He recalled the important instructions of the 20th Party Congress which had just been convened, reviewed the key work arranged by the 11th Congress of the Institute, and summarized the great achievements in scientific and technological innovation, green and low-carbon, and intelligent manufacturing in the process of achieving the historic leap from big to strong in China’s iron and steel industry in the 13th Five-Year Plan period. Zhang Xiaogang pointed out that China’s iron and steel industry still needs to take comprehensive measures to optimize industrial structure, control capacity expansion, promote industrial concentration, improve quality and efficiency, and ensure resource security, and vigorously develop low-carbon green steel, optimized layout, technologically advanced steel, safe and reliable steel, and outstanding benefits.
The subjects of sub-conferences involve mining, mineral processing, coking chemistry, iron making, steel making, continuous casting, rolling and heat treatment, surface and coating, deep processing of metal materials, automotive steel, pipeline steel, low alloy steel, special steel, electrical steel, stainless steel, amorphous alloy, powder metallurgy, metallurgical energy, environmental protection and resource utilization, metallurgical equipment and engineering technology, metallurgical automation and intelligence, metallurgical information technology, metallurgical engineering, zero discharge and other topics.
