BHP Billiton has partnered with Allonnia, a Bill Gates-backed biotech startup, to investigate the use of rock-eating microbes to address emissions from the steelmaking process.Allonnia has discovered microbes in BHP Billiton’s iron ore that reduce the levels of phosphorus and aluminum in the ore, increasing the grade of the iron ore from 62% to at least 65%. Scaling up these microorganisms could produce direct-reduced iron suitable for steelmaking with hydrogen, which could lead to carbon-free steelmaking.

HISCO Handan Steel’s 1500MPa ultra-high-strength wear-resistant steel NM500D-XT was delivered off the production line and the quality fully met the customer’s requirements. The product is the first domestic new product, with excellent comprehensive performance (-20 ⊥ low temperature impact toughness ≡ 24J, Brinell hardness in 470-540HBW small range interval), will be used for wide-body mine carriages and other manufacturing, finished service in Inner Mongolia, Central Asia and other low-temperature regions. Also provides customers with the corresponding supporting welding technology program.

TISCO’s hand-torn steel Bird Zun paper cutouts and nibbed steel Temple of Heaven Prayer Hall model were officially collected by the National Museum.

Baosteel steel slag comprehensive utilization industrialization project is based on steel slag as raw material for the world’s first industrialized carbon dioxide mineralization production line, belongs to the key areas of key technology research and transformation of the results of the project category, mainly in the waste of iron and steel slag and industrial emissions of carbon dioxide as raw materials, the production of high-purity calcium and magnesium carbonate, iron-containing materials, green negative carbon micropowder and other products.
