Induction Furnace: Proper Initial Use

Initial Use of Induction Furnace

It is quite important to operate a new induction furnace correctly, that could affect the service life of the induction furnace.

  1. The new furnace should be continuously smelted as much as possible to avoid thermal shock damage caused by intermittent melting and hot and cold, and generally should be continuously melted for one week.
  2. Try to avoid high-temperature smelting. At high temperatures, the lining will react with the molten steel as follows: SiO2+2C→Si+2CO, the higher the temperature, the more the corrosion of the lining will be aggravated.
  3. Avoid overheating of the local lining. The heating speed of the intermediate frequency furnace is relatively fast, and the negligence may cause the “bridging” phenomenon of the charge material, that will lead the furnace lining molten and eroded due to overheated.
  4. If it is necessary to stop the furnace for a long time, the molten in the furnace should be empty to avoid cracking of the lining when the molten condenses.
  5. Try to charge clean materials when the new furnace works
  6. When the furnace is stopped for cooling, in order to avoid the cooling rate of the furnace lining is too fast, the empty furnace should be cooled, and the stress concentration should be added to avoid the temperature difference between the upper and lower parts of the furnace body in the cooling process of the furnace lining.
  7. Because vertical cracks are inevitable in the cold furnace, when the cold furnace is started, the oven should be heating at low temperature first, avoiding the cracks to be further expanded when the molten permeates the cracks.
  8. Pay attention to the furnace condition and furnace wall.
  9. Cleaning the debris on the coil to prevent coil breakdown.
