The complex structure of steel slag is a combination of slag and iron, which are intermingled with each other. Under the premise of ensuring the grade of magnetically selected slag steel (slag steel particles), steel slag is crushed to 75mm after magnetic separation, there is still about 4% to 6% of metal iron in the tailings; crushed to 35mm after magnetic separation, there is about 3% to 5% of metal iron in the tailings; when crushed to 10mm after magnetic separation, the remaining metal iron in the tailings can be reduced to about 1%. It can be seen that the steel slag crushing to the finest possible particle size, can improve the recovery rate of iron metal.

Hydraulic cone crushers are used for fine crushing of soft-hardness ores in mines, and can generally produce crushing products of 20 to 45 mm. To achieve a 12 mm feed size, a closed-circuit configuration of screening and return circulation is required. If a closed circuit configuration is used for this purpose, the circulating load is high and the operating efficiency is low.

Rod mill is equipped with appropriate grinding media steel rods in the cylinder, the installed power of the equipment is large, the grinding media wear fast, high metal loss; there is poor stability of the products; and the production cost is very high.
