Blast Furnace Charging System

Blast furnace charging operation refers to the control of the position and thickness of the furnace charge in the blast furnace production process, so as to adjust the key technical and economic indicators such as the permeability of the charge column and the utilisation of gas. The charging system is one of the four major operation systems of blast furnace, which directly affects the furnace condition and production cost. The control of charging system, together with blast operation, iron tapping system and heating system, jointly maintains the long-term stable smooth running of the blast furnace. The charging system includes: material line, batch weight, working system of distribution chute and charging sequence.

The key to blast furnace charging is to control the drop point and the thickness distribution of cloth. Under the premise that most blast furnaces use chute charging, the drop point is mainly achieved by controlling parameters such as chute inclination angle and rotational angular speed; the distribution of layer thickness is achieved by parameters such as throttle opening and charging matrix.

The visual management of blast furnace charging system has the following characteristics

  1. All-round integration of distribution matrix, material parameters and other parameters in the whole furnace service cycle, forming a batch-based blast furnace smelting cycle, taking quantitative historical data to optimise charging according to the individual characteristics of each blast furnace;
  2. Based on the 3D scanning test and 3D material flow data, develop a visualised 3D charge model of the furnace top, capable of displaying in real time the  status and corresponding parameters such as gas distribution in the furnace throat, so as to combine the gas distribution and charging system more reasonably, and to facilitate the analysis of gas changes by the blast furnace technical and operational personnel;
  3. Visualised management of furnace charge layer distribution and gas distribution;
  4. Accurately tracking and automatically analysing the change of blast furnace conditions by batch, and automatically forming charging system and gas change analysis report for blast furnace technicians to analyse and optimise blast furnace operation;
  5. Calculate the effect of adjusting the charging system of the blast furnace offline, including coke load, material surface change, and gas distribution in the furnace throat.
  6. The application of new technologies improves the lifetime and energy efficiency of the blast furnace and reduces the impact on the environment.
